Prof. Bohang Mohale speaks at the e’Bosch – Stellenbosch University's Annual Heritage Lecture.
The e'Bosch Heritage Project, in partnership with Stellenbosch University, will host its Annual Heritage Lecture titled "The future heritage of business in South Africa" on September 23, 2021, with prominent business personality Prof. Bonang Mohale as the online guest speaker.
"We are particularly pleased about getting a person with the caliber of Prof Mohale on board this year. He will continue in the tradition of influencers who in the past have graced our Annual Heritage Lecture. This event undoubtedly constitutes one of the highlights on our calendar of some 28 events that we will present during September and October 2021,” says Dr. Sias Mostert, chair of the e’Bosch Board of Directors.
“Prof. Mohale has been invited to reflect on the perceptions of business heritage in South Africa and what culture we need to adopt to have it celebrated from all quarters in our country.
New ways of thinking about business can move the needle forward on some of the grand challenges of our society concerning unemployment and fostering a culture of entrepreneurship," says Dr. Mostert
Prof. Bonang Mohale is a published author and respected business leader who has held chairmanships and directorships at some of South Africa's top companies. Currently, he is the newly elected President of Business Unity South Africa (BUSA), Chancellor of the University of the Free State, Professor of Practice in the Johannesburg Business School (JBS) College of Business and Economics, and chairman of both The Bidvest Group Limited and SBV Services. In 2001, he received the President’s Award for his servanthood in the South African industry, and in 2019 the Free Market Foundation’s Luminary Award.
“The main goal of the e’Bosch Heritage Project is to weave a trust fabric through celebrating our cultural diversities and creating a better understanding of our many different world-views. In the process, we establish inclusive economic growth opportunities and recognize the human dignity of all. e’Bosch wants to get a momentum going to have the available heritage in South Africa embraced and utilized by everyone," says Dr. Mostert.
The e’Bosch-US Annual Heritage Lecture, an online event from 18:00 to 19:30 on September 23, 2021, is open to the public and will be presented on the Microsoft Teams platform. Registrations must be done beforehand at http://www.ebosch.co.za/annual-lecture

Media Release: 15 September 2021
e’Bosch celebrates 10 years and announces 27 community projects for the remainder of 2021
The Stellenbosch-based e’Bosch Heritage Project now in its tenth year of existence is forging ahead with a total of 27 community projects for the remainder of this year, all of them adapted to observe Covid-19 protocols.
“The main goal of the e’Bosch Heritage Project is to foster social cohesion by celebrating our cultural diversity together and create inclusive economic growth opportunities for all. We want to keep the momentum going for this ideal which we started in 2011 and therefore had to come up with some creative solutions to stay safe within the constraints imposed by Covid-19 regulations in 2021. We are therefore pleased to announce that for the remainder of this year we will be hosting 27 projects in total, a great improvement on last year’s performance during the hard-lockdown period," said Dr. Sias Mostert, chair of the e’Bosch Board of Directors at last Friday’s open-air official launch in Stellenbosch.
Some of the flagship e’Bosch projects announced by Dr. Mostert at the launch were inter alia the e’Bosch Community Leadership Course Project Presentations on 18 September. The 15 students who completed the course in Advanced Engaged Citizenship on August 30, was facilitated by the University of Stellenbosch’s Department of Community Development and sponsored by Remgro.
The next highlight on the calendar will be the e’Bosch – Stellenbosch University Annual Lecture on September 23, by the prominent business personality and newly elected CEO of Business Unity SA (Busa) Prof Bonang Mohale. The theme for this year’s lecture will be “The future heritage of business in South Africa”. It will be an online event form 18:00 to 19:30 open to the public.
The newly created Art Tile Project by Michelle-Lize van Wyk and 12 collaborators of the REBUILD art group will exhibit in Stellenbosch from 1 to 10 October and afterward tour all 14 “dorpies” of Stellenbosch with invited audiences in each location.
The e’Bosch Festival of Talents which received a total of 64 online entries for the categories music, drama and dance will stage their Grand Finale on 30 October for 10 finalists in each category on October 30, also as an online event. Winners will be selected in each category and then assisted to take their performances to some of the 14 Stellenbosch dorpies as an entrepreneurship endeavor and job creation program. A special treat is the creative baking competition with an anniversary birthday cake party planned for the morning of October 30. The project is in collaboration with the National Lotteries Commission.
The Mayor/Rector’s Award Ceremony on October 14, will be in honour of the ten-year existence of the e’Bosch Heritage Project. Awards therefore will be to those who made an extraordinary contribution to Stellenbosch's cultural infrastructure and institutions for the benefit of all over the past ten years.
Another new kid on the block is this year’s e’Bosch Wellness Health Placemaking Project in collaboration with the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport. This program aims to open up public spaces to assist people with physical exercise and general recreation with an added benefit of improving immune systems and ultimately physical, mental, and emotional wellness. The program will be hosted during the week of October 4, Monday to Friday, from 13:00 to 14:00 at the Van der Stel sports grounds.
Other highlights of e'Bosch 2021 projects for the remainder of the year also include a pilgrimage along the Eerste River on the weekend of 22 – 24 October; a Petanque competition for teams from the 14 Stellenbosch “dorpies” on 2 October; the Interfaith Conference on Shared Values on 20 October, the e'Bosch FriendsCUP Games at Rhenish High School on 22 October; the e'Bosch U-11 Soccer Tournament Final at Kayamandi Stadium on 23 October.
“The e’Bosch Heritage Project, founded in 2011 with an inclusive birthday party of the 80th birthday of the Voortrekker youth movement, is a response to restoring the uninformed perceptions that we have of each other. The project’s goals are to get to know each other, appreciate each other and respect each other so that every dorpie of Stellenbosch is a place that is safe and welcoming to all. While human dignity is preserved and social inclusion fostered, a new culture grows by celebrating our traditions together. The e’Bosch Heritage Project proactively builds bridges between all the social divides that permeate the South African society," says Dr. Mostert.

e’Bosch workshops concept of a sustainable future heritage for all
The concept of how to create a sustainable future heritage for all will be the main theme at the e’Bosch Heritage Project’s Social Cohesion Workshop next week at the Doornbosch Centre in Stellenbosch.
The e’Bosch Heritage Project now in its 8th year of existence stands for respecting human dignity, eliminating social injustices and forging social inclusion for all. The challenges facing all our communities range over many dimensions and we are urged to create a sustainable future heritage for all is the take of the e’Bosch Management Committee.
To encourages everyone not only to celebrate their own heritage but also to build bridges between different racial and cultural groups so as to get to know and trust each other is intrinsic to their approach. The e’Bosch Management Committee therefore thought it fitting to get the expert change-enabler ms Thandi Chaane to run their workshop again for the third consecutive year.
Ms Chaane works with communities throughout the African continent on human rights, transformation and cultural diversity. Her personal experience goes back to the 1976 uprising up to her current involvement in the South African business sector. She uses this experience in an inspiring way and as a constructive backdrop to the understanding of our current political, economic and social challenges and the effect it might have on our future.
The outcome of the workshop is aimed to make every attendee leave motivated and equipped with tools to establish that desired cultural future in his or her own workplace and community.
The workshop is primarily aimed at the business community and attendance free, but bookings are essential as space is limited. It takes place on Tuesday, 20 November 2018 from 9;00 to 13:00 at the Doornbosch Centre on the R44 just outside Stellenbosch.
Contact Porchia Adams at porchia@phcomms.co.za or 084 441 2510 not later than 15 November for reservations.

The first 500 finishers in the 10km and 5km respectively received a medal each. The total number of official finishers in the 10km event were 514 while 563 finished the 5km event.
The male podium finishers in the 5km event were Jacques Wolmarans 21:17; Eduard Loubser 22:23; and Waldo Kotzé 22:34. The top ladies were Suzan Hobson 25:06; Grace Sargeant 26;16; and Jana Wessels 26:32.
In the 10k km event the male podium finishers were Deon-Lee Hendricks 31:36; Akhona Ndada 32:11; and Philani Sengce 33:18. The lady winners were Vicky van der Merwe 38:22; Mia Steytler 38:47; and Louise van Rensburg 39:35

Rekordgetal voltooi e'Bosch-leierskapkursus

Media Release
Business engages in the future heritage of Stellenbosch
To weave the social fabric of Stellenbosch into an inclusive community where everyone knows, appreciates and respects one another was the main theme of a business workshop presented by the e’Bosch Heritage Project at Stellenbosch.
The workshop, sponsored by Distell for the second consecutive year as part of the e’Bosch Heritage Project festivities during the month of September was facilitated by Thandi Chaane, an expert change-enabler.
Ms Chaane works with communities throughout the African continent on human rights, transformation and cultural diversity shared her personal experience from the 1976 uprising to her current involvement in the South African business sector. She provided a constructive backdrop to the understanding of our current political, economic and social challenges and the effect it might have on our future.
The event focused on South Africa’s social heritage, how it impacts business and communities and how we may build a sustainable future heritage despite a changing political, economic and social environment.
“The vision of the e’Bosch Heritage Project is to weave the social fabric of Stellenbosch into an inclusive community where everyone knows, appreciates and respects one another. Distell’s support is invaluable to the project’s progress thus far and we believe that ultimately the business community can achieve significant return on investment in the social fabric of Stellenbosch,” says Dr Sias Mostert, chairperson of the e’Bosch Heritage Project executive committee.
“As business in Stellenbosch, it is important to support initiatives that build on the social fabric of this beautiful community. We appreciate the contributions of the facilitator Thandi Chaane, an educator by heart, who delivered an inspiring message which brings South African history to life through her personal experiences and encounters,” says Nichole Solomons, Manager: Distell Sustainable Socio-Economic Development
“Many light and intense moments were shared but it is up to those who live, work and play in Stellenbosch to take their learnings to heart and move forward. The workshop was experienced as inspirational, sincere and action-driven by all,” says Ms Solomons.

Me.

Me.
Navrae kan aan Johann Murray by 083 628 7820 of Porchia Adams by 082 441 2510 gerig word.

Kaartjies sal by die deure beskikbaar wees.Toegang is gratis.

Mostert.

Conversations to build a dream
Another step has been taken towards fulfilling a dream of forging a future Stellenbosch community where everyone knows, appreciates and respects one another in an e’Bosch Heritage Project and Distell Foundation workshop held on Saturday, 3 September at the University Museum.
Participants of the workshop included the Distell Foundation team, e’Bosch representatives, academia and an extended network, who shared their dreams, personal experiences and commitment for an inclusive and welcoming Stellenbosch for all.
Thandi Chaane, the facilitator of the dialogue, is the co-founding director of The Human Capital Engine, a consultancy focused on organisational transformation, diversity management and human capital development. She is an expert change-enabler who works with communities throughout the continent on human rights and diverse cultural issues.
The various role players were invited to reinforce the commitments made in 2011 by the founders of the e’Bosch Heritage Project at the same venue where the decision was made to build a Monument of Intent of the future heritage of Stellenbosch. Their subsequent Declaration of Intent, adopted in 2012 by the rector and mayor of Stellenbosch (co-founding partners) describes the dream for an inclusive Stellenbosch community where we know, appreciate and respect one another.
“The aim of the workshop was to increase the awareness of different social perspectives and to dream about a future Stellenbosch and the commitments people are prepared to make to achieve it. The outcome made a contribution to understanding South Africa’s motto: Unity in Diversity, capturing our collective beliefs and ideals. The workshop also affirmed the validity of the e’Bosch process, crafting a collective culture that forms the basis of the e’Bosch Heritage Project to address the dire need for mutual understanding and respect between all our different communities,” says Dr Sias Mostert, chairman of the e’Bosch Heritage Project Executive Committee.
“We appreciate the contributions of the facilitator Thandi Chaane, an educator by heart, who delivered an inspiring message bringing the South African history to life through her personal experiences and encounters. Many light and intense moments were shared when she told authentic stories about our shared history, the impact thereof and how we can move forward. The workshop was experienced as inspirational, sincere and action-driven by all,” says Heidi Bartis, General Manager of Corporate Affairs and Head of the Distell Foundation.
“We are thankful to the Distell Foundation whose commitment towards the e’Bosch Heritage Project has grown beyond the School Choir Festival to co-investing in the social fabric between all the communities in Stellenbosch. In the process we are discovering together what it means to be a South African,” says Dr Mostert.

Kylemore gears up for Child Art Expo at e'Bosch Heritage Festival 2016
Learners who attend the Imbali Visual Literacy Programme in Kylemore are already working enthusiastically on their art pieces to be exhibited at the 2016 e'Bosch Child Art Exhibition, which will launch on Friday, 16 September in Kylemore.
This will be the second successive exhibition by learners from Kylemore, Pniël , Johannesdal, Lanquedoc and Simondium after their successful launch at the Fredagh & Bernard Art & Educare Centre in Kylemore during Heritage Month, September last year. The project is managed by Jeanne Bestbier Bloch and will be staged again at the same centre during September this year.
The Visual Literacy project addresses the need to provide a structured and meaningful program that enhances the visual literacy education of the children in Kylemore and surrounding towns. It is the Imbali project organizers' conviction that constructive structured and creative intervention (especially in the form of art workshops) leads to a renewed interest in learning, as well as to a radical development in self-esteem, that may change the course of young lives which are currently at serious risk.
"We've all heard the old adage 'a picture is worth a thousand words.' Learning to read those pictures gives us advantages in both work and life," says Jeanne Bestbier Bloch who is also the vice chairperson of the Imbali Western Cape Project.
"From a very early age, a great deal of educational importance is placed on teaching children how to recognize and read words and to understand their meanings. So too do we need to learn to recognize and read words and to understand images - to become literate in visual language - in order to communicate successfully in our increasingly image-saturated culture," says Jeanne
The e'Bosch Heritage Project formerly known as the Stellenbosch Heritage Project will be staged for the sixth consecutive year during the month of September. It culminates in the e'Bosch River Festival on Heritage Day, 24 September on the banks of the Eerste River in Die Laan.
Practically all the communities from the greater Stellenbosch region will be participating through representation of 10 'dorpies' or neighborhoods which are Cloetesville, Ida's Valley, Jamestown, Khayamandi, Klapmuts, Kylemore, Pniël, Stellenbosch Central, Raithby, Vlottenburg and the Farming Communities. e'Bosch-boomplantdag 24 September 2016

Old and young can look forward to sport, entertainment and cultural activities on Heritage Day, 24 September on the banks of the Eerste River in The Avenue, Stellenbosch, which will be closed off for the day's e'Bosch River Festival.

Arts and crafts exhibitions of a variety of organizations from the region will also be on display throughout the day in the Ou Landbousaal on the banks of the Eerste River.
